A few bank customers are on to him. Something does not seem quite right.It is not every day that a Labrador retriever saunters into a financial institution and makes a deposit – much less at midday, when there is virtually no one waiting at the drive-through window.

AROUND TOWN: Frustrated dog owners click with new training method

Reprinted with permission from The Villager.Doug Compton was at his wit’s end with his 2-year-old Labrador retriever, Hershey.According to Compton, after Hershey was attacked by a German shepherd that jumped a fence, she became very aggressive out on walks when another dog was within a couple of blocks. When Compton’s veterinarian referred him to Vicky Kirkland, a Dog Trainer in Littleton who practices “clicker” training, he was willing to try anything.

No one understands the phrase “it’s a dog’s life” more than Vicky Kirkland.The Littleton resident has made a business out of training dogs for the last 14 years.While the administrative success of her business recently earned her a spot in the 2008 Biltmore’s Edition of Who’s Who Among Executives and Professional Women, it’s her training techniques that earn her a spot in her clients’ hearts — and in this case, client equals dog.
